Today, I came back home from work and when I switched on the TV, I found myself glued to some exciting content showing short clips of all kinds of movies, sports and series. This got my attention as I sat down to see what the rest of my night viewing had to offer.
However, shortly afterwards, the clips started repeating and it is only then that I realized that my Dstv subscription was disconnected and I was on channel 100.
I thought, isn’t this interesting? how come I have never bothered to check what’s showing on this channel even if its part of the bouquet?
The first thing which came to mind was “its not specific.” Channel 100 shows clips of all the exciting movies, series, sports, drama, news, etc. across different Dstv channels but has no particular structure.
The rest of the channels on Dstv have a particular focus on a genre with over hundreds of channels covering sports, movies, series, reality tv, music, news, cartoons, local, etc. Each channel is unique and special in its own right. There are always people who are going to watch the “other channels” (as boring as they may seem to you).
Even in life, they will always be people who will be interested in what you love or do as weird as it may seem to even yourself.
Being a “jack of all trades” (channel 100) might be interesting in the beginning but soon enough people will want something or someone with a deeper understanding or focus of a specific subject area. They will eventually go to the dedicated professional/expert (channel) who gives undivided attention or uninterrupted viewing in area of need/choice.
Don’t be channel 100. Stick to one thing!
